About Preethi

Cornwall-with-Benjy-2

Hello, my name is Preethi Sutton. I am a qualified and experienced coach who has helped people facing numerous challenges from all walks of life. From a young age, I knew I was extremely sensitive and aware of what was going on around me. I wanted to become a doctor just like my father and help people. But doing conventional medicine was not a part of my life plan apparently! I trained in Chinese acupuncture and helped many clients with their physical and mental health issues.

My clients opened up to me and talked about their emotional problems which had consequences on their physical health. Mind and Body are intricately connected as I had studied in Chinese medicine. I decided I wanted to know more about the workings of the mind and qualified as a coach with the International Association of Wellness Professionals and then went on to do a 2 year diploma as a mental health counsellor at the Wealden Psychology Institute. In addition to this, I am a mindfulness practitioner having studied with several world renowned Buddhist teachers.

Looking back at my life, I realised how traumatic it was for me as a 10 year old to go to boarding school in a different country to where my parents lived, seeing them only once a year. I was a “good” girl who behaved well for the nuns and lost the ability to speak for myself. Having grown up in these strict surroundings, in my 20s and 30s, I did what was expected of me, from my parents, society, the “elders”. I believed that life should be lived in a certain way which was dictated by my conditioning.

This led to dissatisfaction and disappointment with my life and low level anxiety that I could not fully understand. I felt something was missing. I looked for meaning in various places; relationships, jobs, multiple courses, self-help books, etc. Finally, with the help of a therapist after my divorce, I accepted that I had to look within me for the answers to how I wanted my life to be.

I learned about myself, my thoughts, my beliefs and feelings, my likes and dislikes and learned to accept myself as I am.

Once I was able to do this, albeit slowly, change happened and I took responsibility for the happiness and contentment in my own life. Like everyone, I have faced adversities at different times in my life and have managed to overcome them. I have also had help along the way from people in my life. Each experience has enabled me to know myself better, grow and develop into the person I am now, so I value them. Through my training, my own life experience and client work, I have gained the experience to face the challenges of modern day living.

As a coach, I offer an active listening space with compassion and empathy and promise to walk alongside you in making positive, lasting changes and seek a more fulfilling and purposeful life. When you have a session with me, I will help you to connect with your innate ability to bring balance, harmony and a sense of well-being into your life.

So if you are looking for an experienced coach who might be able to help you with dissatisfaction in life, negative mindset, a lack of motivation or any other challenges, please book and free Compatibility Call so we can explore if we are suited to working together.

Voluntary and placement work with cancer patients :

I now work at The Olive Tree Centre, a cancer support centre where I am a trainee counsellor, providing counselling for cancer patients and their relatives.

Previously I worked there for two years, providing acupuncture for cancer patients and their relatives, on a voluntary basis. The centre is a harmonious, healing place. Working there has given me not only valuable experience in dealing with difficult, emotional situations, but also an appreciation for how important health is and to learn to appreciate what we have in our lives.
